Attention for the topics of hearing and hearing loss is now assured: Monica Bellucci, who has won international renown as an actress in Hollywood, France and Italy , is a new ambassador for Hear the World. For this purpose, photographer and rock legend Bryan Adams captured her sensually on camera in the Hear the World pose for conscious hearing, with one hand cupped behind her ear.
Via her commitment, the Italian beauty aims to call attention to the importance of hearing and the possible consequences of a loss of hearing: “Without good hearing the beauty in the world can never be complete: the laughter of my children, the sound of the sea – hearing is an unbelievable gift.” She is thus joining the ranks of over 50 celebrity Hear the World ambassadors, such as Julianne Moore, Jude Law, Sting und Annie Lennox.
Hearing loss: 800 million people are affected globally
Hear the World contributes towards raising awareness for the topic of hearing. Over 800 million people throughout the world – equivalent to 16 per cent of the global population – are affected by hearing loss. Studies show that an untreated hearing loss has negative repercussions on the quality of life, in social, emotional and physical respects. One of the central concerns of Hear the World is providing support to those affected: The Hear the World Foundation advocates equal opportunities and increased quality of life for people in need with hearing loss throughout the world. To this end, the foundation involves itself via financial resources and the provision of hearing aids. Notably promoted are projects that support children with hearing loss, in order to allow them to develop in keeping with their age group.

This is fantastic to read, both my father and I have hearing loss, so it is great to see celebrities supporting a foundation (especially one of my favorite actresses, Monica Bellucci).
